Goethe in Mainhattan

by Nugzari Novikoff

Subject: Cityscapes
Medium: Oil paint
Dimensions: 79 × 63 × 1.8 in (W × H × D)

This painting brings Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who was born in Frankfurt, into dialogue with the city’s contemporary skyline. I wanted to connect Frankfurt’s cultural heritage with its modern identity and create a visual bridge between history and the present. The contrast between Goethe’s classical figure and the architecture of today’s “Mainhattan” is at the heart of the composition.
