Duality

Subject: Wildlife
Medium: Pastel
Dimensions: 18x24
Created: 2024

Duality explores the contrast and connection between two wolves set within a quiet, snow-covered landscape. Surrounded by the stillness of winter, their differing expressions and presence suggest opposing forces existing side by side—strength and vulnerability, instinct and restraint, light and shadow. The snowy environment helps heighten that contrast, creating a sense of silence, isolation, and balance around the two animals. Each wolf holds its own character and intensity, yet together they form a unified composition that leaves the relationship between them open to interpretation. Created entirely by hand in soft pastel, Duality reflects my fascination with wolves as both individual animals and powerful symbols, combining detailed wildlife realism with atmosphere, emotion, and a more contemplative sense of storytelling.
