Subject: Wildlife
Medium: Pastel
Dimensions: 24x24"
Created: 2025

Last Call places a grizzly bear in an unexpected setting: seated at the bar of a dimly lit pub, caught somewhere between humor, melancholy, and quiet reflection. The piece combines realistic wildlife portraiture with a more narrative approach, using the familiar atmosphere of an old tavern to give the bear a distinctly human sense of character. Warm light, rich shadows, and carefully rendered textures help create the feeling of a late evening winding down, while the bear’s expression leaves the story open to interpretation. The painting was created entirely by hand in soft pastel and reflects my interest in blending realism with storytelling, personality, and a touch of wit.
