Olive - Pomeranian in oils

Subject: Pet portraits
Medium: Oil paint
Dimensions: Dimensions - 20 x 16 in
Created: 2021

“Olive” is a commissioned black-and-white oil painting on paper, created using the dry brush technique. The portrait depicts a Pomeranian resting outdoors in a natural setting.

The commission story

The portrait was created from a photograph provided by the client. I preserved Olive’s natural pose and surroundings while paying particular attention to her gentle expression, bright eyes, and the rich texture of her long coat.

The outcome

The finished portrait captures Olive’s individual character and calm, attentive expression. The highly detailed coat contrasts with the softly rendered background, keeping Olive clearly at the center of the composition.
