Roxy - English Bulldog in oils

by Danguole Serstinskaja

Subject: Pet portraits
Medium: Oil paint
Dimensions: Dimensions - 12x17 in
Created: 2022

Roxy is a hand-painted black-and-white portrait of an English Bulldog, created in oil on paper using the dry brush technique. I focused on her distinctive facial structure, expressive eyes, characteristic folds, and individual personality.

The commission story

The brief was to create a highly realistic portrait from the client’s photograph while preserving Roxy’s individual expression. I carefully studied her anatomy, proportions, and facial details, gradually building the portrait with fine layers of oil paint.
