Kerry - cat portrait in oils

Subject: Pet portraits
Medium: Oil paint
Dimensions: Dimensions - 12 x 17 in
Created: 2019

“Kerry” is an original black-and-white oil painting on paper, created using the dry brush technique for Ashdene’s cat collection - Feline Friends.

The commission story

The reference photograph was provided by Kerry’s owner. I selected this cat for the collection because I was immediately drawn to her beautiful pose and expressive face. I focused especially on her large reflective eyes, distinctive markings, and the softness of her coat.

The outcome

The finished portrait captures Kerry’s gentle, inquisitive character through detailed realism and subtle tonal contrasts. Her expressive eyes became the central focus of the composition.
