Dara is a black-and-white oil portrait of a Rhodesian Ridgeback, painted on paper using the dry brush technique. I focused on her elegant breed features, expressive eyes, and distinctive individual character.

The commission story

The portrait was commissioned by Dara’s breeder, who wanted a highly realistic and recognizable portrayal of her dog. I paid particular attention to Dara’s anatomy, proportions, facial structure, and expression, gradually building the portrait with fine layers of oil paint.

The outcome

The breeder was very pleased with the finished portrait and especially appreciated how accurately I captured Dara’s expression. The result combines anatomical precision with the individual personality that makes her immediately recognizable.
